BELLA

So, this is Bella. Bella has been a big part of my life for the past 8 months. She is a "registered" British/American Golden Retriever. My kids had been asking for a dogfor a long time! Well, one day driving around town we see the guy walking THEE CUTEST puppy I had ever seen! We stopped and asked what kind it was. Next thing I know my husband and kids have found online a breeder in Illinois. EVERY day they were on the site looking at these puppies and every day another 1 or 2 sold. Finally, 2 puppies left. My kids all looking at me with pleading eyes! "OK,OK!" I said, "get her!"

So now, 8 months of "gummpy mom" and missing food items (ENTIRE school lunches, and PLATES FULL of muffins, PANS FULL of bread dough...) and wiping up pee every time someone says hello and new family room carpet, 8 months later. Bella is in a "foster home".

One day a friend at church asked if he could trade 2 horses for Bella. I told him I didn't need the horses but would he take Bella. So, now Ray and Amber have SIX dogs! They told me, they would take care of her for a couple of months or a year or forever. "But, Bella will always be Haileys dog" said Ray. So, THANKS Ray and Amber for being so good to us and to animals and being foster parents to Bella!

Hi Kim! I linked over via Lindsay's blog. I was getting worried as I read that my fate was going to be giving in to a dog in years to come. It's too bad Bella didn't work out as well as hoped, but I am sure she's happy. Way to go on the marathon!

You had to get new carpet?! You gave it a good go...8 months is a long time! At least you know she's in a good home. How are the kids coping? Say hello to your girls for me.

I'm sure that Hailey is so sad but she will probably have fewer bruises and scratches from Bella "beating up" on her. At least you made an effort to have a pet which is more than we have done. I do think it would be better to clean up after Bella that 2 horses though--good trade!

Why does no one ever offer me two horses for MY dog?? :)

We had a golden retriever once who would turn on her back and pee all over herself for no apparent reason. It drove me insane. It was heartbreaking to find her a new home, but there was definitely more peace in my heart (and our home!) with her peeing all over herself at someone else's house. I hope that peace finds you guys, too! And nice that Ray and Amber are wonderful and so close so Hailey can visit whenever she wants to.

I'm so sorry, and if Hailey would like it, we could arrange shared custody of Sadie. I'm sad for you, but also a little jealous. I'm sorry...

Oh what a good woman you are! I don't think I would have made it a day. My poor kids. We'll be sticking to fish.
