"Arctic Blast 2008" ...( a week in review)

A week ago I woke up early on a Sunday Morning to go to some early meetings.
I checked out the window when I got out of bed because the weather man said it was going
to snow. Well, NOTHING! Total disappointment. I showered and got ready and when I looked out the window again before leaving.....BIG, BEAUTIFUL SNOWflakes were falling! By the time I got out of my first meeting the decision had been made to cancel all church meetings.
By the end of the day this is what it looked like outside. It was beautiful!
NOW, for those of you who do NOT live in Oregon and are reading this, I KNOW how crazy this sounds! Church was cancelled for THIS?!?!?! I agree, a bit crazy. BUT,Oregonians are not use to this AND it is hard to drive 50 yards here without there being HILLS! AND, another CRAZY thing, salt is "illegal" to use on the roads here! SO, we "raised in UTAH" just sit and ENJOY!!!!
(In the 15 yrs. I've lived in Oreon, this is only about the 4th or 5th "BIG" snow I remember getting here!)
By Monday morning it was SUNNY and icy! The kids had a great time playing outside. My boys were outside for SEVEN hours!!! (Yes, of course, school was cancelled!!!)

Tuesday. Temps had not risen above 25 so still COLD and icy and SUNNY and of course,... NO SCHOOL!

Wednesday.

The kids would get at the top of the driveway and slide down the driveway...

across the street .....

and down the hill to the end of the street! FUN, LONG ride!
Am I EVER going to get my Christmas shopping done?!?! OR the presents I DO have wrapped?!?!? because, of course,... NO SCHOOL!
By Thursday and Friday the kids SHOULD have been in school. We were just a slushy mess. But, the weatherman kept saying we were going to have a BIG storm so... Thurs and Fri....
NO SCHOOL! and NO STORM! UNTIL....
Saturday!
It snowed ALL day! OH MY GOSH it is the most beautiful thing in the world!!! I LOVE IT SOOOO MUCH!

Saturday night some friends invited us over to watch the BYU football game. We bundled up and walked over! FUN! To bad the football game didn't end a little better!!!! (Bad day for BYU sports!)

No they weren't throwing snowballs at me. Isn't it BEAUTIFUL!

SUNDAY.
These picture is taken out of our playroom window.

THIS, is my bedroom window! All the windows on the east side of my house are ICED over. You can't tell from the snow pictures but after all the snow we got yesterday, last night we had a small ice storm and the snow has a layer of ice on it!
It is GORGEOUS! But,....of course...
CHURCH CANCELLED!

I love seeing all your pictures, but it really looks like a foreign land! So crazy to have snow for this long. Your kids all look so cute and happy all bundled up!

That is crazy that you guys were at the Fairmont Princess! It's about 30-45 minutes from where we are, so not far! What a fun place to stay. We found out we get a special rate the weekend of the recital there, and next year we're going to take advantage of it. It's so pretty!

Can you believe this!! I love it, but I need a little break. I'm thinking even the mall would be a nice change! as I type, I think I'm drying my fourth load of ski clothes today. At least they aren't wearing anything else to get dirty! But I think my dryer is eating their gloves! How do we keep loosing them!?

The snow is so fun, especially when it is a novelty. Cute pictures of your kids and pretty surroundings. So far we're just hanging out inside to avoid the cold and ice.
